Lawless Leader Land

Revealing his true contempt for the law, this time as expressed by the Supreme Court ruling in Hamdan yesterday W. said this:

"At any rate, we will seriously look at the findings, obviously. And one thing I'm not going to do, though, is I'm not going to jeopardize the safety of the American people. People have got to understand that."

Uncurious George only respects one thing. His Decider powers. The ink had not dried on the Supremes decision before he was, at the very least, sticking his chin out in defiance of the ruling. If we deconstruct W's statement here it does seem quite plausible that he will NOT abide by the Supreme's decision. Even though the Court said he and his administration have committed war crimes by violating the Geneva Convention, W. presses on with his defiance of law.

"...I'm not going to jeopardize the safety of the American people..."

Why say this? Here W. is clearly saying that if this decision limits his alleged unitary executive powers(which of course it plainly does), then he's not following it, not obeying this rule or ANY rule if HE is protecting the American people.
Almost every assertion that this administration has made about executive powers was delivered a backhanded "bitchslap" by this ruling. The ruling reinforces the truth of Congress' role in war time. It said the executive doesn't go it alone. It restated our nation's connection to the rest of the world thru the Geneva Convention agreement. The Court pointed out that the Geneva provisions are still binding today not just "quaint" as the executive branch mocked. Special military tribunals that allow the executive branch to do what it wants in secret with no oversight rules was rendered "illegal" by this ruling. W. claims he can disregard laws passed by Congress if he so desires in his protection of American citizens. The Court said of the president, "..he may not disregard limitations that Congress" has placed on the executive thru law. And for the absurd notion set forth by the administration and its lackeys about the Authorization to Use Military Force (AUMF) that Congress passed before launching the "war on terror" granting the executive powers to do as he pleases the Supremes responded with this:

"there is nothing in the text or legislative history of the AUMF even hinting that Congress intended to expand or alter the authorization set forth in . . . the UCMJ." (Uniform Code of Military Justice). As Glenn Greenwald points out, replace UCMJ with FISA and W.'s warrantless wiretapping also becomes a figment of his illegal imagination.

Oh, he's not going to abide by this new ruling. He will go down to the bitter end being lawless. But at least one branch of our government has righted the democracy ship even if it's only temporarily.

American Pre-emption and What It Means Part3

Part1 Part2

Final scene:What's really going on.

Said Gonzales: “The convergence of globalization and technology has created a new brand of terrorism. Today terrorist threats come from smaller more loosely defined cells not affiliated with al-Qaida but who are inspired by a violent jihadist message, and left unchecked these homegrown terrorists may prove to be as dangerous as groups like al-Qaida.”

Chicago Tribune:
Also on Friday, Deputy Attorney General Paul McNulty held a briefing to discuss the Justice Department's terrorism prosecution strategy.McNulty rejected the notion that the case against the Florida men was somehow less significant because of the suspects' apparent lack of skill.

In a recent speech that formed the basis for McNulty's talking points, he emphasized the need to identify plots "at the earliest possible stage and to respond with forward-leaning - preventative - prosecutions."

This thrust by law enforcement..
...represent a strategy of fighting terror by pre-empting possible attacks rather than allowing them to incubate into more concrete plots, federal authorities said Friday

From Baltimore Sun
They certainly had the will," Miami U.S. Attorney R. Alexander Acosta said yesterday. "They were searching for the way."

Columbus Dispatch, Mueller "They share ideas and information in the shadows of the Internet" where they can anonymously navigate around the more than 5,000 radical Web sites, he said.
Tracking the growing underground networks inside the United States "can be tedious work, but it is absolutely essential for the safety of this country," Mueller said.

It is clear isn't it? These guys planned this Thursday night and Friday event to justify and re-emphasize their theory of infringing on the rights of Americans and pre-emptively acting in order to "protect" us.
We have to track underground networks, get those who have a will, whether they've done anything wrong or not. Whether they have broken any laws or not. Preventative prosecutions! Can you goddam believe it? See, first it was foreign threat pre-emption. What happened? Invade a country that posed no threat. They got away with it and continue to in Iraq. Now it's domestic pre-emption. Now it's the American citizens turn to experience invasion of their rights, of their privacy, of anything, so we better get used to it.
They have to do this. Pre-emption is all they have. If Americans do not accept and embrace pre-emption as the administration touts it, Republican leadership will be in trouble. If Americans see pre-emption for what it is; lawlessness, they will throw the bums out.
In conclusion, all things Republican are political. There is no policy. There is no governance. There is only posturing and images. These idiots in Miami were treated like the pawns they had become in a public relations program second to none. It is not possible to continue the American democracy experiment when Americans are being so crassly propagandized by their own leaders.

Quite frankly, if these 7 guys in Miami are a threat, I'll take my chances.

American Pre-emption and What It Means Part2

2nd scene: What really happened.

Washington Post
Batiste allegedly recorded video of the U.S. courthouse and other federal buildings in Miami as part of a casing operation, but the camera was provided by the government informant, the indictment said.

The charging document said that starting in November(2005), the men met with the informant and pledged an oath to al-Qaida in hopes of obtaining uniforms, cash, guns, radios and vehicles. In December, the informant produced eight pairs of military boots, a cell phone, $3,500 and a digital camera to photograph targets.

Chicago Tribune
WASHINGTON - Terrorism charges against seven Florida men whose plans to blow up the Sears Tower and other targets barely extended beyond the talking stage..... federal authorities said Friday.

The last activity in the plot occurred May 24, when, according to the indictment, Batiste told the "al-Qaida representative" that "he was experiencing delays because of various problems within his organization but that he wanted to continue his mission and maintain his relationship with al-Qaida."

"It was more aspirational than operational," said John Pistole, the FBI's deputy director.

3rd scene: Why right now:

Chicago Tribune
In both Washington and Miami, officials faced skeptical questioning from reporters about the plotters apparent lack of sophistication and about why the government waited nearly a month before making the arrests.

Why wait a month? Indeed. I'm going to venture a guess. I think it had something to do with a new domestic pre-emption message this administration was rolling out, officially Friday but began Thursday evening on Larry King.

Chicago Tribune:
Word of the arrests leaked out Thursday night just as FBI director Robert Mueller appeared on Larry King Live on CNN television and confirmed them.

Wasn't that convenient? News of the arrests "leaked out" just as Mueller was on national cable. Just look at what went on Friday:

Administration officials coordinated their remarks Friday about the arrests. Key paragraphs about the current terror threat contained in Mueller's speech Friday before the Cleveland City Club and in Gonzales' prepared remarks at his Washington press conference were identical.

And then this from the Death Star:
On Friday, Vice President Dick Cheney happened to be in Chicago(location of Sears Tower), where he told an audience during a political fundraiser that the plot against the Sears Tower was evidence the nation needs to remain vigilant, especially at home. "Unless somebody thinks that the threat has gone away and does not exist, they ought to look at their morning newspaper," Cheney said at the Chicago Hilton and Towers. "It is a very real threat. There are still people out there who are doing everything they can to kill Americans."

I just sat on a jury last week. No reasonable doubt for me on this story. Coordinated public remarks by Justice and FBI. V.P. happening to be in Chicago. See the staging? The crafting? The illusion? This is what passes as governance today. Staging image events. Not that there aren't shreds of reality, there are. But that's all they are, shreds. Why would they do all this and why should anyone give a doo-doo?
That's part 3.

American Pre-emption and What It Means Part 1

Now, all kidding aside. I want the movie rights to this stuff.

The following will be a take on the most recent "terrorist" bust in Miami of 7 black men, (5 were Americans). They have been arrested and charged with terrorism.

Ist scene: The threat.

From Knight-Ridder
A close family friend and a distant cousin of Stanley Grant Phanor described the leader of the group, Narseal Batiste, as a "Moses-like figure" who would roam the streets in a cape or bathrobe, toting a crooked wooden cane and looking for young men to join his group.

From the NYT: "Neighbors said at least some of the men were in a religious group called the Seas of David that appeared to mix Christian and Muslim beliefs. The group wore uniforms bearing a Star of David and met for Bible study, prayer and martial arts in a one-story warehouse in the heart of the predominantly Haitian section of the impoverished Liberty City area."

Baltimore Sun:
Though the government said the defendants dreamed grand schemes, they actually had a hard time maintaining their warehouse headquarters. A neighbor said the structure had no water or electricity and was lit by candles.
"This is a very spiritual thing. It has nothing to do with terrorism," said Sylvain Plantin, cousin of one of the defendants.

Leo Casino, a musician who lives near the warehouse where some of the men were arrested Thursday, agreed. He said the suspects were vegetarians who fed the homeless.
The group didn't carry guns, Casino said, and "the neighbors weren't afraid of them."

From Alt.Muslim:

They passed their time selling African-American hair care products and, in the words of a group member, "train through the Bible... not only physical but mentally".

From CNN.com:

But when the group began practicing "witchcraft," she said, Lemorin left and moved to Atlanta about four months ago

Neighbors said the men, who wore turbans, caused no problems but seemed odd

"All you could do was just see their eyes. They had their whole head wrapped up. Just the eyes showing. And they were standing guard -- one here, one there -- like soldiers. Very quiet," one woman said

Have you got a good mental picture of what we're dealing with here? Honest to the Almighty this sounds like the script from that "Rocketman" movie or maybe even "Pootietang". You talk about some dazed and confused cats. Capes, robes, turbans, Star of David insignia but studied Bible, selling Ultrasheen on street, witchcraft, candles, no electricity.
While you still have the picture of these comic book characters fresh in your mind read this from FBI head Mueller by way of the Columbus Dispatch:

"Mueller told an audience in Cleveland that the suspects — five U.S. citizens, a legal immigrant from Haiti and a citizen of Haiti — reflected an emerging pattern of would-be terrorists who are "self-recruited, self-trained and self-executing."

He said this, without laughing, on Friday after the Thursday announcement of the arrests. More in Part 2.

Asymetrical Warfare Update

(If you haven't read my post"From the 'This Shit Can't Be Made Up'Dept." do so now.)

Well now, just when you thought it was an act of conspiracy minded asymetrical terrorist warriors carrying out a public relations campaign of suicide, we find this out from a government spokesperson:

"Yes, there's no question that Amnesty International, the International Red Cross, which by the way has a little place on Guantanamo Bay and which, by the way, I submit is the reason that the three Al Qaeda suspects committed suicide, because International Red Cross told the Americans you've got to give them privacy and tape up the window and they did. And you tape up the window, you can't see in. They can go hang themselves. But..."

Wow,this really silences my thunder, no? I knew that it had to be someone's fault and now we know. Now we know who's running Guantanomo and writing the rules. As I expected it was a different but just as deadly campaign by those evil twins of all asymetrical warfare, Amnesty Inter. and the Red Cross. Those liberal, anti-American bastards! Every time you turn around these two groups have tried to help the terrorists and now this. Helping those asymetrically thinking prisoners by having their cell windows taped up. Can you say conspiracy?
The logic is brilliant. The American military, led by you know who, can't be at fault. At first, you might remember from the storyline it was an act of premeditation by these 3 prisoners, an act of warfare. That storyline was brilliant in itself. And I suggested this "asymetrical warfare suicide" as it was called broke new ground, not only in warfare itself, but also in advertising and marketing.
But that storyline, though conceived in a rare spash of brilliance left questions unanswered. Obviously it was necessary to answer the question, how could those in charge have allowed this suicide pact to happen? Someone had to be responsible for ALLOWING it to happen.
Now, call me whacky, ( and many people do), but I thought George, the Decider and of course the Chief, was in charge and therefore he or his military would be resonsible for allowing the suicides to happen. But no, our Leader and those he leads are never at fault.
Taping up the cell windows. This, as you know by now, is aiding and abetting terror and terror tactics. Amnesty and the Red Cross must have been in league with these warriors. They must have known what was going to happen and quickly reached for the roll of duct tape. Not just complicit but according to the quote, "the reason".
Those three suiciders were only waiting for their cell windows to be taped up and if it hadn't have been for Amnesty and The Red Cross it would never have happened.
Well there is no way little ol' me can argue with thinking like this. I am not worthy. Once again I've been proven wrong. It wasn't a sense of hopelessness and despair that drove these men to kill themselves. Instead it was because of the urging and complicity of those two liberal groups(duh). I hang my head in utter embarassment.

Don't Give Peace a Chance

SPRINGFIELD (AP) - A southwest Missouri mall defended its dress code after a security guard told a 10-year-old girl her bandanna decorated with peace signs, smiley faces and flowers violated the mall’s code of conduct.

Lydia Smith, who was shopping with her mother at Battlefield Mall for new church clothes when the incident happened Saturday, said she wore the orange and yellow bandanna to give her outfit some color....

The officer handed Lydia’s mother a printed copy of the Battlefield Mall Code of Conduct, which prohibits patrons from engaging in certain activities while on mall property.

Lydia had violated No. 10 on the list of 17 offenses: "failing to be fully clothed or wearing apparel which is likely to provide a disturbance or embroil other groups or the general public in open conflict."

Under the code, people who don’t comply with the code can be asked to leave. If they don’t leave, they can be arrested for trespassing.

Christine Moses, director of mall marketing, noted the mall is privately owned and behavior on its premises can be regulated.

"The bottom line is we want to have an environment (conducive) to shopping. Offensive apparel does not fit in with that environment," she said, although she could not say how the bandanna was offensive.

I know why the bandanna was offensive. Oh, I know, I know...call on me.. I know.
It was the fucking peace sign. And I don't blame them either. What in the good Christ of God was this 10 year old terrorist thinking? Wearing the peace sign always results in embroiling others in conflict. Why? Because if you like war and killing people, especially brown skinned people, then the viewing of a peace sign is like sunlight to a vampire. Burns their warloving asses off. That's what they mean by embroil. The mall would like you to have a pleasant, guilt free, non-embroiling shopping experience. They are serving your needs. Peace signs are really just terrorists of another bandanna color. They terrorize our minds with burning guilt for all the brown skins being killed in our name.

What an Idea

You do have to love this. From NY Times editorial.

"Given the topics that have preoccupied Congress lately, one wonders why the Republicans don't simply propose a catchall bill aimed at illegal gay liberal Mexican flag burners and be done with it."

I don't think any words are necessary. You can just see it actually happening.

They Write Letters

Letter printed, surprisingly, in Beacon Journal 6-19-06.
Their title:

Giving until it hurts?
Uh, not exactly

CPA Bill Conte's May 30 letter about Dick Cheney's generosity (``Our generous vice president'') is so typical of Enron-style deception. Conte asked us to ``kindly observe... the Cheneys' itemized deductions totaling $6,857,849 -- the majority of which went to charitable organizations,'' and then ``maybe those who hate all that is good with our nation would come to embrace capitalism, leadership and compassion in a more reasonable state of mind.''

Funny about that ``reasonable state of mind'' thing. Consider this: Approximately two-thirds of these deductions were mandatory under the agreement Cheney signed, upon becoming vice president, that all future financial benefits from his former company, Halliburton, would be given to charity. An independent administrator then exercised his Halliburton options in 2005.

Dick Cheney, willingly generous or altruistic? Hardly.

It gets even better.

The Hurricane Katrina tax relief act allowed for a one-year-only change in charitable donation limits. Normally, only 50 percent of a person's adjusted gross could be claimed for charitable deductions. With the Katrina tax relief act, that limit was raised. Of course, this act was meant to increase donations to Katrina victims.

So did Cheney give to Katrina-type charities? Oh, no. Taking full advantage of the new Katrina law, he wrote out a check for $2.3 million and sent it to his administrator, who then gave it to Cheney's original charity list.

This brought the vice president's charitable donations up to 77 percent of his 2005 adjusted gross.

Sleight of hand? No, all perfectly legal. But all this ``compassion and leadership'' led to a fact that Conte omits:

The Cheneys received a refund of $1,938,930.

Am I ``spewing forth venom in the direction of our vice president''? No, just including the facts so conveniently left out in a discussion about tax returns. Kind of like auditing the books.

Isn't that what CPAs are supposed to do?

Fe, Fi, Fo, Fumbleland Security

This is like a line out of a Steve Martin movie

From a Daily News report:

"When a Daily News reporter attempted to deliver scores of messages protesting the cuts to Chertoff's Washington office, he was promptly turned away.
The letters, faxes and printed e-mails "would put all the employees here, including the secretary, at risk," said a
Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman when the delivery was attempted Friday
."

The high number of messages was due to angry New Yorkers and others who were upset over large reductions in budgets to the city and the unexplainable mentioning by the Homeland Security that New York didn't have any national icons.

Time to Review. Grab a libation, it's gonna be that good.
Let me see here...Yeah...Homeland Security was originally intended for the security of Americans...I'm reasonably certain that was the original intent. Now,Americans are telling the Dept. that they're unhappy with security and of course now that's a national threat. Pinch that between your cheek and gum for a spell, then pause and consider the following:

The Message Bomber Threat. Conjure up those pictures of Richard Reid (shoe bomber)we used to see. That wily rascal with the Einstein IQ, remember him? What a convenient cartoon character he was. The story hasn't been told yet of how master jihadist Reid with his singlehanded brilliance in footware options on an airplane, led to EVERY person in America taking off their shoes on EVERY flight. That's for an "after later" story. On to this new threat? I'm sure CNN is calling its' anchors right now to prepare them for the narrative.
Messages. Wow. All forms too. Letters, faxes, e-mails.
Wonder how they do that. Do you think it's, like, in the ink? I suppose this nanotech stuff has advanced pretty far, huh? Maybe they put the "go boom" stuff in the paper itself. It's probably one of those Canadian logging or lumber outfits infusing their woodpulp with toxic junk, those socialist commie terrorists.
Tough to figure all the dangers out there now. Picture it, standing by the coffee maker talking about last nights Deadwood episode and it happens, fax machine comes on...you pick up the paper to read it and BAM... that's it...Message Bomber Hits.
And then if messages on paper are threats, then what about other ways of communication...huh..huh..see where we're going? Picture this: Wolf Blitzer telling us from his "Situation Room"..."This just in to us here in the situation room where news is breaking from all over the world as it happens. We've just been told that it's now too dangerous for us to communicate to you anymore because of the new threat of...(wait for it)...The Sound Wave Terrorist!... yes, here's John King with the report: Wolf we are being told that another front on the message terror war has apparently been opened. Intelligence sources have found evidence of teenie tiny digital ones and zeros that can be programmed with dirty bomblike radioactive material, embedded onto audio tracks and detonated in the ears of listeners at any time. This threat, according to White House sources, will make it necessary to ban all forms of electronic audio communications immediately over concern for national security. Back to you Wolf.
So then to our viewers, looks like another right will have to be given up but at least we'll still be alive."

O.K. that was fun but on to the moral of the story. A recent article I read said, and I'm paraphrasing, The War on Terror advocates have convinced most of us that any idea of a threat is a threat. Think about that. If a highway intersection never had a fatal accident would we act on just the idea that it could happen? And isn't it true that almost anything can happen?
It's the same tactic used on us as a reason to torture. You've heard the routine hypothetical. It goes like this: If we think a "terrorist" probably knows where a nuclear device is hidden, should we torture him to get the information?" See, it's not the threat, it's the idea of a threat.
"Well then Bluester, ya' smartass, what are you saying? That we shouldn't worry about security plans in case of this or that?"
No, of course not, whatever we do must deal with the actual threat not the idea of a threat. I take a contrarian position here. The threat of Islamic extremist violence to America is small. Yes it exists but in no way is the threat large enough to consume our brains like common sense eating bacteria.
We can't even begin talking about something else, in this case, that doessn't exist at all and that's the "war on terror". We'll have to save that for after later, too.

Nation of Men

W is always proud of himself when he remembers to say this at every opportunity; "we're not a nation of men we're a nation of laws". You know how he does it. That pitiful looking fake tough cowpoke face of his. Over and over he tells us we're a nation of laws. That's how you know it's not true.

Read the ACLU release on the wiretapping thing here

So here's my problem. I read the Specter so-called "bill". Lotta bullshit there. It actually does make all the spying W has done legal by retroactively applying his bill to 1978 and forward. Exemptions for any and all those, probably hundreds or even thousands, who have been spying on us without warrants. It also gives to the president all powers to do basically anything he wants in this area without oversight unless you call the Attorney General oversight. Gotta hand it to Cheney, he simply does not give a fuck. I respect the attitude but my oh my. Check this out on Cheney's latest.
If these guys bring this shit out of committee and submit it to the full senate, Cheney will have to secretly control the session somehow. We'll see.
Anyway here's what should be every average American's concern. What the federal executive is allowed to do, I believe, eventually spills down to all executives whether it's a governor, a mayor, a police chief, a sheriff or even a corporate leader. If the executive is given all powers in law enforcement when it comes to wiretaps, search and seizure, unlawful detention and the like, without probable cause or warrants, can you imagine what we will have in 5-10 years throughout this country? All Americans are threatened.

Just imagine Kenneth Blackwell winning in Ohio. What do you think he would do with powers like that. Bob Taft, the numbnuts that he is, claimed and, goddam if he didn't just get, partial privilege from the judge to withhold certain "briefings" from review on this Workers Comp pillaging case with Tom Noe. Taft's basis was "executive privilege". What the fuck privilege does he have here? Who is he protecting the Ohio borders from, West Virginia terrorists? You know, super duper secret shit that, if found out, would aid and abet those West Virginia terrorists in stealing our Government funds, oops too late. I mean, for Christ's sake.

From the "This Shit Can't Be Made Up" Dept.

From BBC News:

"A top US official has described the suicides of three detainees at the US base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, as a "good PR move to draw attention".
Colleen Graffy told the BBC the deaths were part of a strategy and "a tactic to further the jihadi cause", but taking their own lives was unnecessary.
But earlier, the camp commander, Rear Adm Harris said he did not believe the men had killed themselves out of despair.

"They are smart. They are creative, they are committed," he said.

"They have no regard for life, either ours or their own. I believe this was not an act of desperation, but an act of asymmetrical warfare waged against us."

Just a few words.
I think this act of asymetrical warfare suicide, a hideous act very much like the 9-11 acts, calls for a Summit, perhaps called the Asymetrical Summit, to see if a new war will be necessary. A war like no other, a war with no borders, no borders between countries, no borders between life and death, a war, in fact, with a dead enemy, a dead enemy asymetrically warring with us and of course a war of no end because death has no end. What war could it be..why yes, the war shall henceforth be called the Global War on Asymetrical Warfare Suicide or GWAWS.
And a new war needs a new Act of Congress. I know. We'll call it the Asymetrically Patriotic Act. This new Act should give W., the Supreme Decider, new Decider powers to use unlimited military force against this dead enemy. Everything on the table, nuking the dead, everything. And to gather intelligence against this new
dead enemy we will bring in our faith based leadership to communicate with this deadly dead enemy. We will need new asymetrical intelligence agencies which we don't currently have and it will require new and cutting edge hardware and software so that all the agencies can not only communicate with each other but also with the dead enemy asymetrically. It will be hard work to filter through all the communications of this new and very dead enemy. And it will require the temporary full suspension of the 4th Amendment because you see a dead enemy has no due process rights so that means no one else does either. Would you rather be dead or have rights? Dead people don't have rights and that's why we're warring against them.
And the media will have to adjust to this new paradigm. The MSM will generate and perpetuate the new meme that these new dead enemies should be called Asymetrical Homiciders instead of Asymetrical Suiciders. I can see it all now..."tonight on Hardball, liberal Democrats argue Asymetrical Suiciders are only killing themselves, is that true? Find out only on Hardball at 7."

Now a few more words about the PR comment above.
Colleen Graffey is on to something here, don't you think? I think she has uncovered the veritable motherlode of advertising. Let's examine the core value as all good conservatives would do. It looks to me like the core value here is killing yourself to promote your product. Now on first glance you would think there is nothing new here but that's the beauty of it. It's literal. Can you believe it? It was right there in front of us and we couldn't see it. Literally, get some bedsheets, rig them up and hang yourself IN ORDER to sell your product or service. Pure, pristine, asymetrical brilliance.
You can see it can't you? Bands committing suicide to promote their new CD. Bankers will hang themselves on TV to get your mortgage business. Potential customers will be so traumatized by this new public relations blitz that new business will go up exponentially. After all who could resist someone who had just killed himself so you would buy his product. And really now, let's be honest, doesn't this sound like Christianity anyway? This is going to work out great. Someone call Karl Rove.

More Marching Freedom, Israeli Style

Here's Israel keeping up with our Marines. When it comes to what a leading blogger calls "toddlercide" you just knew Israel wasn't going to let the U.S. military have all the fun.

GAZA (Reuters) - "Islamic militant group Hamas called off a 16-month-old truce with Israel after attacks blamed on Israeli forces killed 10 Palestinians, including children playing on a beach.

Palestinian officials said Israeli air strikes and artillery fire killed 10 Palestinians in Gaza, the highest Palestinian toll in a single day since 2004. Seven people, including five from the same family, were killed in what Palestinian officials said was Israeli shellfire from boats on to a crowded beach.

Among the dead were three children, aged 1, 3 and 10. Their sister, who had been swimming, survived. Twenty people were wounded. Covered in blood, children screamed as adults carried the wounded and dead from the sand."

And of course the Israeli's never hid their policy about how they would "protect" their nation from terrorists. This from one of Sharon's advisers in 2004:

"First of all, the fence is not built like the Berlin Wall. It's a fence that we will be guarding on either side. Instead of entering Gaza, the way we did last week, we will tell the Palestinians that if a single missile is fired over the fence, we will fire 10 in response. And women and children will be killed, and houses will be destroyed. After the fifth such incident, Palestinian mothers won't allow their husbands to shoot Kassams, because they will know what's waiting for them.
Second of all, when 2.5 million people live in a closed-off Gaza, it's going to be a human catastrophe. Those people will become even bigger animals than they are today, with the aid of an insane fundamentalist Islam. The pressure at the border will be awful. It's going to be a terrible war. So, if we want to remain alive, we will have to kill and kill and kill. All day, every day."

And here is how the Haditha massacre and others including this massacre of Palestinian future terrorists can be construed by the wingnuts. This is surely a coalition display of solidarity focusing on those Judeo-Christian values I've heard so much about. After all, we're at war and those toddlers who aren't with us must (duh) be against us.
When "toddlercide" is brought up in the MSM I particularly like the reasoning and logic of Hardball moderator Chris Matthews."Suppose a bunch of guys are coming down a road, they get bombed, they lose a bunch of people. They look around, they see a house and they figure, well, at minimum, the people living in this house have been warned where those mines are, because otherwise they’d step on them accidentally. They’re part of the problem."
His justification is that anyone living close to where an IED went off knew about it ahead of time; cause if they didn't know they themselves would trip it and blow themselves up. And as anyone knows toddlers and little children, being the ornery and curious little bastards that they are, would be the first to know where IED's are placed. How do we know this? According to Matthews logic because their would be dead children everywhere if they don't already know where the IED's are. Airtight logic I must say. With logic like this, I suggest, there's no need bothering with the usual gold standard of "collateral damage". Those fucking children are guilty and that is that.
The above mentioned Israeli toddler story must fit into this same Matthews logic form, don't you think? Surely those Palestinian children knew where and when and who amongst the Hamas and others were going to attack Israelis. Thus the justification of the beach missile attack.

Pre-emptive violence against children...the new and improved Judeo-Christian value.

From MSNBC.com

RIVERDALE, Md. - A man who told police he made a pipe bomb to attack an abortion clinic was arrested Thursday, shortly before the device went off in a friend’s home while authorities tried to disable it, according to court documents.

According to an ATF affidavit, Weiler planned to bomb an abortion clinic in Greenbelt and use a .40-caliber handgun he had stolen from a friend to “shoot doctors who provided abortions.”

Could this have happened because of those same core values that our Marines are brushing up on over their cold blooded murdering of Iraqi children? I wish these American Patriots would make up their minds. Should we save fetuses or kill children?

The larger context of Zarqawi's death.

From The Independent

"No sooner was Saddam captured than the US spokesmen began to mention Zarqawi's name in every sentence. "If the weather is bad they will blame it on Zarqawi," an Iraqi journalist once said to me. It emerged earlier this year that the US emphasis on Zarqawi as the prime leader of the Iraqi resistance was part of a carefully calculated propaganda programme. A dubious letter from Zarqawi was conveniently discovered. One internal briefing document quoted by The Washington Post records Brigadier General Kimmitt, the chief US military spokesman at the time, as saying: "The Zarqawi psy-op programme is the most successful information campaign to date." The US campaign was largely geared towards the American public and above all the American voter. It was geared to proving that the invasion of Iraq was a reasonable response to the 9/11 attacks. This meant it was necessary to show al-Qa'ida was strong in Iraq and play down the fact that this had only happened after the invasion".

Sort of speaks for itself, doesn't it? Proud to be an American , how does it go? because at least I know I'm free. Right? I whole heartedly agree with the lyric of this shit kicker's song, only he didn't finish the sentence. The unabridged lyric would go something like this: Proud to be an American because at least I know I'm free from any truth.

The Real Terrorists

From Reuters:

WASHINGTON, June 8 (Reuters) - The U.S. Senate on Thursday killed a bill backed by President George W. Bush that would have permanently repealed estate taxes.

On a vote of 57-41, the Senate blocked consideration of a bill passed by the U.S. House of Representatives that would wipe out what Republicans call the "death tax."

Republican backers had acknowledged they were short of votes for full repeal, but they had hoped to offer an alternative that would have reduced the tax rate and exempted all but the wealthiest estates from the tax.

Although great progress has been made recently against the leftist insurgency (see tax cuts 2001-2006) the Patriots lost a close battle to protect democracy. That democracy of course is made up of 1.17% of America but they are the true Americans. In spite of losing this battle the Patriots promised to continue the guerrilla war in D.C. to rid our great nation of any and all "fair minded" terrorists. This is not over. It is, like our Dear Leader has rightly said, "a long war" and "hard work".

Pathetic Patriotism

As mentioned in a previous post to watch the media, especially tv, about the Haditha massacre. Last night on CNN, Blitzer did his pathetic patriotic duty and fused the following story with the Haditha event. I'll explain why he did this after the Raw Story.com account of Ishaqi, Iraq, March 2006.

"According to Reuters report on the incident, the 11 bodies of men, women and children, including a 75-year old grandmother and a child under the age of one, were found bound in their blown-up home. All were shot in the head; the house was riddled with bullets. At the time, "The U.S. military said two women and a child died during the bid to seize an al Qaeda militant from a house."

A military investigation into allegations that American troops intentionally killed civilians in Ishaqi, a village north of Baghdad, has cleared them of misconduct, the U.S. said Friday — even though it acknowledged the deaths of up to 13 Iraqis in the March raid.

The bloody aftermath of the attack was captured at the time in the footage shot by an AP Television News cameraman. The video became the focus of attention Friday when the BBC aired it in the wake of recent allegations of U.S. troops killing unarmed civilians.

The footage shows at least one adult male and four of the children with deep wounds to the head that could have been caused by bullets or shrapnel. One child has an obvious entry wound to the side and the inside of the walls left standing were pocked with bullet holes. A voice on the tape said there were clear bullet wounds in two people.

The video includes an unidentified man saying "children were stuck in the room, alone and surrounded."

"After they handcuffed them, they shot them dead. Later, they struck the house with their planes. They wanted to hide the evidence. Even a 6-month-old infant was killed. Even the cows were killed, too," he said.

Blitzer, the Republican ass kissing pussy that he is, dutifully told how soldiers were cleared of any wrongdoing in this transparently clear war crime. Why? To soften the Haditha blow and , I submit, to muddy the two stories.
With U.S. tv viewers it goes something like this: 'Honey, did you see that those soldiers were cleared of that war crime story. What story? You know the one about killing the children. Wolf just said our guys were cleared.'

Then this Maliki misquoted quote about Haditha from todays Akron Beacon Journal:

"Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki on Thursday upbraided the U.S. military over Haditha, which he called "a horrible crime," and accused U.S. troops of habitually attacking unarmed civilians.

On Friday, White House press secretary Tony Snow said al-Maliki had told U.S. Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad that he had been misquoted. But Snow was unable to explain what al-Maliki told Khalilzad or how he had been misquoted."

You see, Maliki didn't say what he said, he couldn't have.

Then we have this apologetic from ABC News about a different story:

"On Wednesday in Samarra, a pregnant woman named Nahiba Jassim and her cousin, Saliha Hassan, were killed by gunfire when their car entered what the U.S. military called a clearly marked, prohibited area near a checkpoint and observation post manned by coalition forces.
According to the military, the driver of the car ignored signals and commands to stop, so troops fired shots to disable the vehicle."

Silly me, to confuse murdering two women with disabling a vehicle. What in the Christ was I thinking?

Then this also from ABC News about yet another U.S. troops story:

"In addition to the Haditha case, in which Marines are alleged to have gunned down 24 civilians in a rage of revenge for a bombing that killed a Marine in November, seven Marines and a Navy corpsman could face murder, kidnapping and conspiracy charges as early as Friday in the April shooting death of an Iraqi man in yet another incident, a defense attorney said Thursday.

Military prosecutors plan to file the charges against the seven servicemen, who are being held in solitary confinement at Camp Pendleton, Calif., Marine Corps base, said Jeremiah Sullivan III, who represents one of the men.

The Iraqi man reportedly was dragged from his home west of Baghdad and shot. The Los Angeles Times and NBC News said troops may have planted an AK-47 and a shovel near the body to make it appear as if the man was an insurgent burying a roadside bomb. Neither suggested a possible motive."

They wanted him to be an informant and he refused. Betcha these guys get off too. After all, no motive, no crime.

Absolutely. Fucking. Pathetic.

Today's Reason to Bitch

I've been giving this some thought so here goes. From before W's inauguration and then again shortly after we know that an invasion of Iraq was being planned. The Project for the New American Century, Paul O'Neil, Richard Clarke and others give us that picture. We also know that Clarke warned W. and his Bushlidites about Osama's gang. Then we have that presidential daily brief about 'Osama determined' and all that. All this before 9-11.
However, up until 9-11 all W. had to show for his time was a tax cut.
Then it happens.
Not only did planes fly into buildings but anthrax was sent through the mail shortly after. While the 9-11 commission put out a report that is still challenged today, there has been absolutely no answers about the anthrax. Since then W. and the 'dites have gone apeshit; stealing, killing, torturing, ripping up the Constitution, ruining the Supreme Court, etc.

Here's my complaint. The most popular left blog sites, the Nation and honestly almost all progressive thinking sees no connection of cause and effect other than coincidence. The conventional wisdom on all the left is that W. and the R's simply took advantage of a tumultuous time but they didn't really know about it ahead of time nor were they complicit.

Two reasons why the left won't touch the actual events. The first is they've accepted the national meme and they are simply brainwashed on this just like the wingnuts. Kinda the same reason liberal Christians don't denounce the Christian story and just move on. Liberal Christians in liberal denominations know and are told the biblical miracles are not really miracles, etc. All the objective material is right there in front of them. But they still call themselves Christian anyway. To me, that's an interesting phenomenon. I know. I know. They like the singing and the organ music and most are old and are hanging on to all they know but still.
The second reason could be the left is afraid of the reaction by moderates and wingnuts if they verbalize their doubts about the national 9-11 storyline. You know how no one wants anything to do with Michael Moore now, like he has political AIDS. That kind of fear. Those same liberals might argue discretion. They are just being smart not creating more of a ruckus than they need to. Hoping that the next election will somehow change things. But if my understanding is correct, all future elections are in jeopardy. I don't get it.
Finally this. AM 1350 Radio Free Ohio has been up for awhile. It's our affiliate of Air America. Good stuff for the most part but I wanted to share an excerpt from Joe Finan's part of the show (11am-1pm) which fits in to my overall point. A caller told Finan that right at the time of the 2000 selection she felt that the U.S. was being overthrown, "a coup-de-ta" she said and nothing since that time has changed her mind only strengthened it. Finan responded like the asshole that he is by pooh poohing, you know checks and balances and all that and everything would be alright, after all, this was America. That ignorant yet arrogant yet again pussified mindset is the problem.
Maybe it is still too soon. Maybe it will never happen. Call me crazy but I don't think it's that difficult to connect the fucking dots.

Sweet Home Alabama

Keep in mind as you read this quote Alabama currently has 9 R's on their Supreme Court.

"In a debate with powerful echoes of the turbulent civil rights era, four Republicans running for Alabama's Supreme Court are making an argument legal scholars thought was settled in the 1800s: that state courts are not bound by U.S. Supreme Court precedents.

The Constitution says federal law trumps state laws, and legal experts say there is general agreement that state courts must defer to the U.S. Supreme Court on matters of federal law.

Yet Justice Tom Parker, who is running for chief justice, argues that state judges should refuse to follow U.S. Supreme Court precedents they believe to be erroneous. Three other GOP candidates in Tuesday's primary have made nearly identical arguments."

And then this:

What IS Wrong with Kansas?

"Leaving many GOP officials stunned and angry, Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, a Democrat, picked former Kansas Republican Party chairman Mark Parkinson to run with her as lieutenant governor.

Parkinson switched parties to run with Sebelius. The move was announced as the pair made stops in several cities around the state on Wednesday.

Response from Republican leaders was quick and critical."

Obviously the wingnuts can't tolerate any moderates. To tolerate is just oh so pre 9-11.
