Today's Reason to Bitch
I've been giving this some thought so here goes. From before W's inauguration and then again shortly after we know that an invasion of Iraq was being planned. The Project for the New American Century, Paul O'Neil, Richard Clarke and others give us that picture. We also know that Clarke warned W. and his Bushlidites about Osama's gang. Then we have that presidential daily brief about 'Osama determined' and all that. All this before 9-11.
However, up until 9-11 all W. had to show for his time was a tax cut.
Then it happens.
Not only did planes fly into buildings but anthrax was sent through the mail shortly after. While the 9-11 commission put out a report that is still challenged today, there has been absolutely no answers about the anthrax. Since then W. and the 'dites have gone apeshit; stealing, killing, torturing, ripping up the Constitution, ruining the Supreme Court, etc.
Here's my complaint. The most popular left blog sites, the Nation and honestly almost all progressive thinking sees no connection of cause and effect other than coincidence. The conventional wisdom on all the left is that W. and the R's simply took advantage of a tumultuous time but they didn't really know about it ahead of time nor were they complicit.
Two reasons why the left won't touch the actual events. The first is they've accepted the national meme and they are simply brainwashed on this just like the wingnuts. Kinda the same reason liberal Christians don't denounce the Christian story and just move on. Liberal Christians in liberal denominations know and are told the biblical miracles are not really miracles, etc. All the objective material is right there in front of them. But they still call themselves Christian anyway. To me, that's an interesting phenomenon. I know. I know. They like the singing and the organ music and most are old and are hanging on to all they know but still.
The second reason could be the left is afraid of the reaction by moderates and wingnuts if they verbalize their doubts about the national 9-11 storyline. You know how no one wants anything to do with Michael Moore now, like he has political AIDS. That kind of fear. Those same liberals might argue discretion. They are just being smart not creating more of a ruckus than they need to. Hoping that the next election will somehow change things. But if my understanding is correct, all future elections are in jeopardy. I don't get it.
Finally this. AM 1350 Radio Free Ohio has been up for awhile. It's our affiliate of Air America. Good stuff for the most part but I wanted to share an excerpt from Joe Finan's part of the show (11am-1pm) which fits in to my overall point. A caller told Finan that right at the time of the 2000 selection she felt that the U.S. was being overthrown, "a coup-de-ta" she said and nothing since that time has changed her mind only strengthened it. Finan responded like the asshole that he is by pooh poohing, you know checks and balances and all that and everything would be alright, after all, this was America. That ignorant yet arrogant yet again pussified mindset is the problem.
Maybe it is still too soon. Maybe it will never happen. Call me crazy but I don't think it's that difficult to connect the fucking dots.
