W is always proud of himself when he remembers to say this at every opportunity; "we're not a nation of men we're a nation of laws". You know how he does it. That pitiful looking fake tough cowpoke face of his. Over and over he tells us we're a nation of laws. That's how you know it's not true.

So here's my problem. I read the Specter so-called "bill". Lotta bullshit there. It actually does make all the spying W has done legal by retroactively applying his bill to 1978 and forward. Exemptions for any and all those, probably hundreds or even thousands, who have been spying on us without warrants. It also gives to the president all powers to do basically anything he wants in this area without oversight unless you call the Attorney General oversight. Gotta hand it to Cheney, he simply does not give a fuck. I respect the attitude but my oh my. Check this out on Cheney's latest.
If these guys bring this shit out of committee and submit it to the full senate, Cheney will have to secretly control the session somehow. We'll see.
Anyway here's what should be every average American's concern. What the federal executive is allowed to do, I believe, eventually spills down to all executives whether it's a governor, a mayor, a police chief, a sheriff or even a corporate leader.If the executive is given all powers in law enforcement when it comes to wiretaps, search and seizure, unlawful detention and the like, without probable cause or warrants, can you imagine what we will have in 5-10 years throughout this country? All Americans are threatened.
Just imagine Kenneth Blackwell winning in Ohio. What do you think he would do with powers like that. Bob Taft, the numbnuts that he is, claimed and, goddam if he didn't just get, partial privilege from the judge to withhold certain "briefings" from review on this Workers Comp pillaging case with Tom Noe. Taft's basis was "executive privilege". What the fuck privilege does he have here? Who is he protecting the Ohio borders from, West Virginia terrorists? You know, super duper secret shit that, if found out, would aid and abet those West Virginia terrorists in stealing our Government funds, oops too late. I mean, for Christ's sake.
