Batiste allegedly recorded video of the U.S. courthouse and other federal buildings in Miami as part of a casing operation, but the camera was provided by the government informant, the indictment said.
The charging document said that starting in November(2005), the men met with the informant and pledged an oath to al-Qaida in hopes of obtaining uniforms, cash, guns, radios and vehicles. In December, the informant produced eight pairs of military boots, a cell phone, $3,500 and a digital camera to photograph targets.

WASHINGTON - Terrorism charges against seven Florida men whose plans to blow up the Sears Tower and other targets barely extended beyond the talking stage..... federal authorities said Friday.
The last activity in the plot occurred May 24, when, according to the indictment, Batiste told the "al-Qaida representative" that "he was experiencing delays because of various problems within his organization but that he wanted to continue his mission and maintain his relationship with al-Qaida."
"It was more aspirational than operational," said John Pistole, the FBI's deputy director.

In both Washington and Miami, officials faced skeptical questioning from reporters about the plotters apparent lack of sophistication and about why the government waited nearly a month before making the arrests.
Why wait a month? Indeed. I'm going to venture a guess. I think it had something to do with a new domestic pre-emption message this administration was rolling out, officially Friday but began Thursday evening on Larry King.

Word of the arrests leaked out Thursday night just as FBI director Robert Mueller appeared on Larry King Live on CNN television and confirmed them.
Wasn't that convenient? News of the arrests "leaked out" just as Mueller was on national cable. Just look at what went on Friday:
Administration officials coordinated their remarks Friday about the arrests. Key paragraphs about the current terror threat contained in Mueller's speech Friday before the Cleveland City Club and in Gonzales' prepared remarks at his Washington press conference were identical.
And then this from the Death Star:
On Friday, Vice President Dick Cheney happened to be in Chicago(location of Sears Tower), where he told an audience during a political fundraiser that the plot against the Sears Tower was evidence the nation needs to remain vigilant, especially at home. "Unless somebody thinks that the threat has gone away and does not exist, they ought to look at their morning newspaper," Cheney said at the Chicago Hilton and Towers. "It is a very real threat. There are still people out there who are doing everything they can to kill Americans."
I just sat on a jury last week. No reasonable doubt for me on this story. Coordinated public remarks by Justice and FBI. V.P. happening to be in Chicago. See the staging? The crafting? The illusion? This is what passes as governance today. Staging image events. Not that there aren't shreds of reality, there are. But that's all they are, shreds. Why would they do all this and why should anyone give a doo-doo?
