Do You Think I'm Cynical?

I guess if the Republican party can endorse the murder of some 60,000 Iraqis for no good reason, while at the same time 3000 of ours are killed and 20,000 seriously wounded, then turn around and vote to institutionalize torture, I guess a homosexual pedophile scandal coverup ain't beanbag. I'm speaking of the Mark Foley (R-Fla)e-mails to a 16 year old male page. Foley abruptly resigned last week when e-mails were found out. Many if not the majority of House Republicans knew something about this up to a year before. This week the cover-up begins in all seriousness.

This morning on CNN, Soledad O’Brien asked Tony Snow why “any communication between a 16-year-old and a congressman” didn’t “raise red flags — major, massive red flags” with Speaker Dennis Hastert and others who have known about the communications for months.

Snow responded, “I hate to tell you, but it’s not always pretty up there on Capitol Hill. And there have been other scandals, as you know, that have been more than simply naughty e-mails.”

Here's one of those naughty e-mails via Atrios:

Maf54: I want to see you
Teen: Like I said not til feb…then we will go to dinner
Maf54: and then what happens
Teen: we eat…we drink…who knows…hang out…late into the night

Teen: I dunno
Maf54: dunno what
Teen: hmmm I have the feeling that you are fishing here…im not sure what I would be comfortable with…well see

Now let's ask this one simple and very basic question. What in the hell would a 52 year old man be doing e-mailing this stuff to a 16 year old boy? Elsewhere in the e-mails, Foley speaks of masturbation with the boy and tells him to measure his penis. But according to the White House, just some naughty e-mails.

And I wonder what other "scandals" up on the Hill ol' Tony was referring to? Could one of them be Claude Allen and his shoplifting scheme at Target? He had to resign after being charged. Or maybe Tony was referring to Duke Cunningham. After all the Dukestir is in jail now after taking $2.4 million in bribes. He actually had a bribe menu written down. So much for a small contract, so much for a large contract. Duke just wanted to be organized in his criminality you understand.

This should be the coffin nail for the Republican House. Either that or the missiles will be flying into Iran soon.
